A festive branch of a chestnut in bloom. Just enough abstracted to still recognize the flower but leaving enough freedom to imagine the place and background where it is found.
‘Chestnut Abundance' is part of 'Branch Up' which is mainly a series on the promise that blossom brings. A time of renewal but also a display of the fleeting nature of life. Blossom time feels as if all trees go in festive mode. But they only bloom for a short while so you have to seize the moment. Branch Up is painted on a prolonged canvas to accentuate the feeling of a lanky branch.
